Captain Jesus Uranga from the US Navy Information Office said in mid-month that the super aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, number CVN78, will be put into service with the US Navy this summer.

According to Market  Watch, this giant aircraft carrier can carry more than 4,500 people and weigh up to 90,000 tons.

At first glance, both of the above aircraft carrier classes have the same hull, but in reality, the Ford-class aircraft carrier possesses a series of technological improvements to improve operational efficiency as well as reduce operating costs.

Instead of using the steam aircraft launch system as before, the super aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford will use an electromagnetic launch system (EMALS) that is lighter in weight and takes up less space.

EMALS does not require too much manpower to operate, and is highly reliable and more energy efficient.

The new launch system is just a very small innovation detail of this super aircraft carrier.

The Evolved SeaSparrow missile is responsible for protecting ships.

The ship has three elevators with much more power than the four elevators on Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.

Changes to the deck design also helped increase the number of aircraft sorties.

The sensor system on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has also been strongly upgraded, adding an integrated active electronic phased array (AESA) search and tracking radar.

Advanced AESA radars also help USS Gerald R. Ford and the aircraft on board emit extremely powerful signals while maintaining stealth, helping to improve combat effectiveness on the field.

Excellent combat ability

Laser guns will be deployed on the super aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford in the future.

According to Market Watch commentator Jurica Dujmovic, the combat capabilities of the USS Gerald R. Ford  are considered excellent.

USS Gerald R. Ford is also protected from threats thanks to Rolling Airframe (RAM) short-range air defense missiles.

In addition, the USS Gerald R. Ford is also equipped with many machine gun turrets and Gatling guns, and is capable of carrying 75 fighter jets ready to launch at any time.

With these technologies, USS Gerald R. Ford only needs 2,600 sailors to operate, 600 fewer than the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

Gerald R. Ford also possesses extremely impressive energy.

Huge source of energy comes with powerful firepower.

With such changes and upgrades in technology and advanced weapons, the super aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford truly carries with it a formidable power, which will certainly help the US maintain the upper hand in wars.
