According to Sputnik, Ms. Ngarmpring, a famous figure in the Thai football field, is ambitious to become the first transgender prime minister in the Southeast Asian country.

Ms. Ngarmpring was not too optimistic about her prospects of winning, but emphasized that the important thing was that she dared to run for election.

The 52-year-old candidate joined the left-wing Mahachon party last year, and she was trusted by this party and nominated for the position of prime minister of Thailand this year.

After the 2014 military coup, the Thai army is now in control of the country.

“People often say to me, ‘Oh, are you transgender?

In fact, Ms. Ngarmpring just started her gender transition 3 years ago and many people still know her as Pinit.

“But I don’t think so.

Thailand is a famous country with many transgender women and they are often called `kathoey` (girl).

Ms. Ngarmpring and the Mahachon party are expected to have a voice with the LGBTI community in the upcoming election.

In 2015, Thailand enacted a law prohibiting discrimination based on the gender and sexual orientation of others, but there are still many shortcomings in the daily lives of transgender people.

Ms. Ngarmpring’s campaign targets night entertainment areas in Thailand, where exploitation of vulnerable people such as women and transgender people is occurring.

Ms. Ngarmpring does not think she will win the election, but she thinks it is important that she is the first transgender person to bravely stand up for election.

“I will not be prime minister.
