Hanoi Studying all day at school, Vu Quynh Nga studied with a tutor until 11pm, then reviewed lessons, slept for a few hours and woke up at 4:30 to continue studying.

At 8:20 a.m. on July 16, standing in front of the gate of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Vu Quynh Nga, a student at Van Dien Town Secondary School (Thanh Tri District) hesitated to go inside to find the exam room and listen to the regulations.

Since the 7th grade, realizing that her ability to learn English was outstanding, Nga began to learn about Foreign Language Schools and Hanoi – Amsterdam.

Entering 8th grade, I started learning English twice a week, Math and Literature.

Russia’s whole year 9th grade schedule revolves around two main things: eating and studying.

Throughout the night, whenever Nga wakes up, she turns on the study light, continues to review or sleeps until about 4-5 a.m. to wake up to study Literature.

Spending too much time studying, just last week, Nga had a fever for 4 days due to weakness and exhaustion.

When reviewing, Nga often takes English tests from schools but does not grade them, afraid that if the results are low, she will lose confidence.

In addition to the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, the female student registered her 2nd choice to attend the Vietnam – Poland High School, which is close to home, convenient to go to school.

Candidates study the regulations at Phan Huy Chu High School – Dong Da (Hanoi), on the morning of July 16.

Tran Bao Giang, a student at Duong Noi Secondary School (Ha Dong district), also prepared carefully for the 10th grade entrance exam more than a year ago.

Instead of taking extra classes everywhere, Giang chose to focus on three subjects: Math, Literature, and English in class.

On the morning of July 16, when he arrived at the exam site to check in, Giang still felt nervous because he only had today to review for Literature tomorrow morning.

At the exam site at Dich Vong Secondary School, Ha Ngoc Nhi and Nghia Tan Secondary School, said they set their 1st wish to go to Cau Giay High School.

I was determined to pass the exam at Cau Giay school, otherwise I would have to get my second choice to go to Quang Trung – Dong Da High School, but absolutely did not think of studying at a private school because I `didn’t like that environment`.

To be accepted into her first choice, Nhi calculates she must score at least 8 points in each subject.

Having her first Literature exam tomorrow, Nhi spent this afternoon re-reading some works in the textbook, and went to bed early at night to regain her spirit.
