President-elect Donald Trump's residence is located in the heart of Manhattan, the busiest area of New York, which is a new challenge for US security agencies.

A woman attempted to burn an American flag near Trump Tower.

While other presidents have homes far from the city center, in quiet places, Trump Tower is a complex apartment and commercial office building located in the middle of bustling streets filled with buses, cars, and more.

Tourists flooded the streets and high-end shops surrounding Trump Tower.

Right after the night Trump shocked America by being elected the 45th president, on a drizzly morning, the New York Police Department began establishing long-term security for Mr. Trump’s family.

A mobile command post was set up here, cement barriers surrounding sand-filled trucks were placed earlier to ensure security on election night.

A few meters away, a woman tried to burn an American flag but failed because it was raining and the flag did not catch fire, while pedestrians shouted, saying she had to leave that place because the police were standing nearby.

`We are assisting the Secret Service in ensuring security for the president-elect,` a New York police spokesman said.

While personal safety for Donald Trump is in charge of the Secret Service, ensuring the safety of vehicles and pedestrians around the building is the responsibility of the New York police.
