Modric's masterpiece helped Real consolidate the top position in La Liga 3

Spain Midfielder Luka Modric scored a masterpiece from outside the penalty area in the 81st minute to help Real win 1-0 against away team Sevilla in round 26 of La Liga.

Modric replaced Nacho Fernandez from the 75th minute and needed just over five minutes to make a difference.

At 38 years and 169 days, Modric became the second oldest player to score from outside the penalty area in La Liga since the 2003-2004 season, after Jorge Molina at 40 years and 15 days.

Modric only has a three-month contract left and is rumored to leave Real in the summer of 2024. According to Spanish newspaper AS, coach Carlo Ancelotti has asked Modric to take a position on the Real coaching staff from next season, but the 38-year-old midfielder

Modric finished from outside the penalty area and scored to help Real defeat Sevilla 1-0 in round 26 of La Liga at the Bernabeu on February 25.

At the Bernabeu home field on the evening of February 25, Real dominated with 64% ball control, finishing 16 times with six hits on target – compared to 4 and 1 of Sevilla.

In the 10th minute, Vinicius crossed the ball for Lucas Vazquez to enter the penalty area and cross the corner past Orjan Nyland.

In the second half, Rodrygo and Vinicius missed opportunities to finish in the penalty area, before Modric scored a masterpiece, keeping three points at the Bernabeu.

The 1-0 result helped Real increase its unbeaten streak against Sevilla in La Liga to 11 matches, including nine wins and two draws.
