Carragher: 'Jorginho's championship experience will help Arsenal' 2

According to former defender Jamie Carragher, Jorginho's winning of many major tournaments and calm playing style will be useful for Arsenal in the Premier League race this season.

`Jorginho won the Champions League with Chelsea and was crowned in the Euros with the Italian team in the past few years,` Carragher commented on Sky Sports on January 31.

On the last day of the winter transfer window, Arsenal completed the recruitment of Jorginho from Chelsea for a total fee of 15 million USD.

Jorginho signed a contract with Arsenal on January 31.

According to British newspaper Sportmail, many fans worry that Jorginho’s ball-keeping style is not suitable for the fast, direct kicking style that has brought Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table.

At Napoli, Jorginho won an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup.

Sharing his opinion, Paul Merson praised Jorginho as an organizational midfielder suitable for Arsenal, able to shield the defense well, and at the same time `feed the ball` to Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

In fact, Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo is Arsenal’s number one target in the January 2023 transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Mikel Arteta wanted to sign Jorginho in the summer of 2020, right after he won the Champions League with Chelsea.

Arteta welcomed Jorginho at Arsenal’s Colney training center on January 31.

In his first interview on the Arsenal homepage, Jorginho admitted that Arteta had a great influence on the decision to land at Emirates Stadium.

Coach Arteta said: `Jorginho is a smart midfielder, with leadership ability and extensive experience in the Premier League as well as Europe. Jorginho has won many titles, but is still hungry and ready to contribute a lot in the Premier League.`

Jorginho is Arsenal’s third rookie in the mid-season market, after striker Leandro Trossard (Brighton) and midfielder Jakub Kiwior (Spezia).
